New Cushions

I am currently knitting up some union jack cushions (all details in my last blog post). I have finished my first cushion, it will be in the shop by the end of the week :) What do you think of it?

It will be retailing at about €35. It is 40 x 40 cm. Lambswool cover with envelope closing back. It has a feather cushion pad.

New products

I have started creating cushions for the expat shop that I work at part time here in the Hague. I'm making union jack cushions :) Here is a sneak peak of the work in progress:

They will be 40x40 cm lambswool cushion covers, I will post pictures of the finished product next week. These cushions will be exclusive to Kelly's Expat Shopping here in the Hague.

Fabric Samples

I have started experimenting with some new designs and here are a couple of my fabrics. what do you think? I am trying to create experimental work and commercial work. So far I feel my designs have commercial aspects, and can be used to create new products.

I'm working on my portfolio right now and had forgotten how much fun it can be, plus how much work it really is! My fabrics are inspired by Scottish landscapes, and there are more fabrics on the way :)

Work development

Below are some drawings I have been working on to help me develop my Scottish landscapes project. Yarn should arrive next week which means I can get started on fabric samples and experimenting, also some new products will be in my etsy shop by the middle of October and hopefully stocked in shops by Christmas. Let me know what you think of my work so far :)

New Project

So I am finally an MA in design cultures and am no longer a student. It has been a long year with a lot of study but I'm pleased I achieved so much personally and academically over the past 12 months. Unfortunately this has meant my my textiles have taken a back seat. So I have decided that over the next month I shall dedicate myself to creating new products, creating an up to date portfolio and experimenting more with my designs and final outcomes.

This has led me to upholstering furniture with my fabrics. I bought a chair for €3.50 from a second hand shop about a year and a half ago and my boyfriend and I set about stripping it, it has only been completely stripped this week and is now waiting sanding and polishing before I can consider putting fabric on the seat. So here are some before and after photos to give you a taste of this new project!
