Christmas 2012

So my Christmas products are now for sale :) You can get them in my online shop and will be for sale in The Hubshop, Rotterdam from 1st November :)

I made a collection of reindeer decorations, based on Santa's reindeer, and a reindeer cushion. Reindeer are a favourite animal of mine, ever since I lived in Finland. All of the products are knitted in lambswool and felted, and all of them have sparkly yarn through the fabric to make them that more festive! So pop over to my online shop for a week look and stock up on Christmas decorations, or get some Christmas presents :D

If you are interested in any commissions for Christmas contact me, I will take orders up until the 2nd week of December :)

98 days until Christmas...

So I'm back from my summer holiday (a rather late summer holiday) and am feeling relaxed and excited to be knitting again. It's now the time of year where Christmas gifts and decorations are starting to appear on the shelves and Victoria Logan Knitted Textiles is making a small Christmas collection that will be ready and online in the next two weeks. I can't wait to show everyone my festive designs, and I'm enjoying working in christmasy colours and with gold and silver ribbions :D I will blog about the new products soon so keep your eyes peeled!

On another note I was on holiday in my beautiful homeland Scotland and did some colour research for next years colour ways. Here are some pictures of the inspirational landscape that Scotland has to offer!

So in 2013 you will be seeing some of these colours added to the collection and some new products inspired by them :)

Publicity

I decided this year that I would go full time with my business, and make my dream come true of being my own boss and creating beautiful textiles. Since June things have really started to take off, this has included new stockists, more publicity and my first interview about my work. so I thought I would share some of the nice blog posts about Victoria Logan Knitted Textiles and some nice images of my work currently online.

I hope I will be getting more publicity and press articles written about Victoria Logan knitted Textiles over the next few months, but so far I'm really happy that my work is being recognised and written about :)

Commissions

So I have been really busy the past few weeks with dog cushion commissions. Ever since I put my Corgi cushion up on my website I have been asked to make several different breeds of dog: Labrador, Bull terrier, West Highland Terrier, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and have had other people enquiring about using different animals but in the corgi cushion style. The response has been amazing, and I have been really enjoying making new dog cushions and have to thank Alvar the corgi for inspiring me to make the first dog cushion by Victoria Logan Knitted Textiles :)

Thanks Alvar

Commissions and knitting

So this week I finished a commission of two of my mountains cushions in a grey charcoal combination both 50 x 50 cm. They turned out really well, and has made me think I should add larger cushion sizes later in the year. The colour combination worked really well and I am creating it in this colour combo for a new stockist, that should be available from the end of July.

Also this week I fixed my knit machine, a small part of it broke 2 weeks ago and I got the spare part on Friday, I was very nervous about fixing it myself as I have never done it before, but luckily it went very smoothly and now I feel very confident about fixing anything on my machine that breaks in the future.

Also today I get a new motor for my machine, I'm very excited, I have been searching for a new motor for months and now it is almost here!

This week brings lots of knitting for new stockists, and designing a cushion for a commission, plus designing a fabric for upholstering a chair, so busy busy!

Knitting and stuff :)

So this week has been a busy one. My yarn finally arrived, opening the box to see so many full cones of beautifully coloured lambswool was exciting.

New yarn, so pretty!

I immediately started knitting orders for a new stockist, a collection of 8 critters. New colour schemes are being introduced and there is a new critter in the gang (more info in next weeks blog!)  It's really exciting to be working on orders and I can't wait to have my critters in new shops and going off to new homes.

Also this week my knit machine decided to break, leaving me in a major panic, after 12 hours of try to fix it, getting quotes on getting a new part I discovered the good news that I can fix it myself. So next week I will be learning another new skill, Knit machine fixing and maintenance! It's one thing I love about being a designer maker, everyday I learn something new.

This week I also received exciting information regarding my work, more to come in the next few months. New labels for my critters and the discovery that I can work all hours of the day just to produce lots of little felted toys. It has been a fun week.

Next week I hope to have a new critter to introduce and hopefully reveal some of my new stockists.

New Beginnings.

My blog has been badly neglected for far too long, so starting from today I will be aiming to update you on things that are going on every week! It's a new beginning for Victoria Logan Knitted Textiles, as I prepare to go full time on my business and hopefully spread the love of felted textiles to many people. The new collection is already knitted up and shop orders are being completed. So in the next few months you may see some of my textiles in a local boutique or in a lovely webshop :)

I am also working on some extra things exclusively for my blog like tutorials, give aways and first peeks of new products.

So keep an eye out for my weekly posts :)

I shall sign off with another image of my Jubilee cushions (sill for sale!)
